Natalie Ferguson is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice includes visual art, installation, production & set design, and experimental film.  Natalie designs characters from the perspective of real or imagined environments they inhabit.  Beginning with an empathetic understanding of the character, extensive research and personal experience, she constructs worlds that invite others to make their own connections to the story.

Natalie’s work has been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCA), aceartinc., Forth Projects, Graffiti Art Gallery, Manitoba Center for Craft, Magenta Gallery as part of the Flash Forward Photography Biennale(2010), Platform Gallery and Semai Gallery. Natalie and her collaborator Toby Gillies were artists-in-residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario in 2019.

Natalie was Scene Designer for the live adaptation of the film Cries & Whispers (2021), produced by the Calarts Center for New Performance and directed by Genevieve Fowler.  She also has worked as Production Designer on You iiiii, everything else(2021), a feature film by Christine Zivic, as well as A Distant Land(2022), a short film by Iris Ma.

Natalie’s background in community art informs her work, based on human relationships and our relationship to food and nature.  She studied Scene Design at California Institute of the Arts (MFA 2022) and lives and works in Los Angeles.
